Why my muscle locked up during excercise. | by Neko | Sep, 2025

One morning, I woke up feeling motivated a little like Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, sharp and ready to conquer the day. I thought, “Time for push-ups. No excuses.”
I jumped straight in… and suddenly, my muscles were completely stuck! 😅 My arms wouldn’t move at all. Panic hit, and I thought, how can my body betray me after only a few push-ups? That’s when it clicked: motivation alone isn’t enough. Even if you wake up with Bateman-level intensity, your body needs preparation, care, and the right routine.
What Went Wrong
Why did my muscles lock up? Here’s what I realized:
I skipped the warm-up. My muscles were still stiff from sleep.
I jumped straight into intense movement without easing in.
I didn’t listen to my body or pace myself.
🧠 Lesson learned: even the most motivated morning doesn’t replace proper preparation.
The Correct Workout for a Normal Person
Here’s the safe, effective routine I switched to:
Warm-up (5–10 min): Light stretching, arm swings, jogging in place.
Push-ups (3 sets of 8–12): Start slow, focus on form.
Squats (3 sets of 10–15): Great for legs and core.
Planks (3 x 20–40 sec): Strengthens abs and back.
Light cardio (15–20 min): Walking, jogging, or cycling.
Cool down (5 min): Stretching to relax muscles.
Timing Matters
Morning workouts are great for energy, but don’t go straight after waking up on an empty stomach. A light snack or a few sips of water helps. Evening workouts work too consistency matters more than timing.

Fitness isn’t about overdoing it even if you wake up with Patrick Bateman-level intensity, start slow, be consistent, and listen to your body.
