When Emptiness Became My Only Companion | by Youdon | Oct, 2025

A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Silent Acceptance
Ever since you left, my life has felt hollow – as if all meaning drained out of every breath.
There are still so many dreams left to fulfill, even without you. But your absence has turned every dream into something fragile – half-lit, half-broken. I never imagined life could feel this empty until now.
Every night, before sleep finds me, your memory returns – and I think of how unlucky we were, two souls kept apart even in our final moments.
I never got to feel your touch one last time, never got to see your face when you left this world.
We never said goodbye. Even now, that unsaid farewell tightens around my heart like a heavy stone.
All my life, I searched for happiness in the smiles of our family. I thought that was enough – that my peace lived in theirs. I worked, I dreamed, believing one day those dreams would take shape.
But had I known how incomplete everything would become, perhaps I would never have come this far from home.
Now I see – life is just like a coin. We think we know one side, but the other remains hidden until fate decides to flip it.
And so, I have learned to live with your memory – not as a wound, but as a part of me. When the ache returns, I remind myself: this pain, too, belongs to my story.
Life isn’t what I imagined it to be. But here I am – gathering what remains, the fragments of dreams and soft echoes of the past – still trying to find small corners of joy, still learning to live again, with a little hope left inside. 🌙
