What Motivates Me to Write?

Is it an escape? A passion? Or maybe a mask to hide my true self? For the longest time, I’ve found myself writing for no particular reason, I write to express what I feel inside, to make sense of my thoughts, to understand myself better. People often ask me what motivates me to write and honestly, it’s simple, writing makes me feel better, It lightens my mind, It helps me breathe.

Growing up, I faced a lot of personal challenges because I always felt different in so many ways. Thankfully, my family showed me love regardless of how I felt about myself, I realized early on that I found comfort in writing down my thoughts and emotions, sometimes I understand them, other times I don’t, but I always come back to them, I see them as letters to my future self.

This is for anyone who’s ever felt like the odd one out, for those who feel stuck while others seem to be moving forward, I’ve been there, In many ways I’m still there, and I know how heavy that feeling can be. Truth is, I don’t have it all figured out, people may think I do, but I’m still fighting daily to hold things together. My mind is often a mix of chaos and calm, but writing has been one of the few ways I’ve been able to manage it, along with a few other hobbies, it’s kept me going.

If you’re feeling lost, find something you love, something just for you and hold onto it. You don’t have to be perfect at it, just start, It could help quiet the noise in your head, ease the ache in your soul, and maybe even open a new path for you.

I’m probably the most confused individual you’ll ever meet, some days, I know exactly what I want, other days I’m just trying to make it through, but every day I keep going because I believe that the best of my today will be the worst of my tomorrow.
