With my four years of writing experience, I can call myself a ‘self-writer’ — even though I’ve never written anything about myself anywhere. But now that I’m here, where everyone uses their keyboards as pens and mind as the storylines, I will write today. And it’s dedicated to my cat.

It was a hot summer day — hotter than any other — because it was exam season, most awaited. I was one of the candidates. After an eventful day, I was exhausted. As I walked through the alley on my way home, I noticed something.

A sweet “Meow”…..

As if someone had splashed a bucket of cold water on me, I was awake from my exhaustion. Finally? Did cat distribution system finally find me?

Scanning the ten-feet-wide alley, I searched for the kitty. Suddenly, a playful kitten appeared right next to the corner of our building, looking at me, hopefully. Slowly I let her sniff my hand — a message that I was not harmful. She trusted me by bobbing her head against my palm. I instantly picked her up. She leaned into my warmth, making me smile from ear to ear.

I looked for her mother, but found non. So without any delay, I took her home.

But taking her home was to real struggle.

“No kitty in the house!” My mother said.

But I didn’t listen to her. instead I kept her in my room, made a tiny bed, made food for her. Totally inexperienced with cat habits, I juggled through online to find reliable sources to give her the best life under my care.

Four months. She was with me four beautiful months. And suddenly one morning, she disappeared. My mother opened the door to throw out the trash, and she ran outside, then never came back.

I was devastated. Looking at her empty plate and bed, I realized how much I adored her. She was my first pet friend. From the day she went missing, I would look for her. I made food and left it outside, hoping she would comeback while I was away and eat it. At least she wouldn’t have to starve.

I know she is somewhere near me. And I know she will comeback.🐾
