Solo trip was not ‘that’ scary.. Bangkok was the perfect place to begin… | by Theresiamayke | Sep, 2025

Day fiveeee, time to go home 🙁
Since I had already packed the night before, I had some time to rest before checkout. I decided to visit a literal hidden-gem cafe near the hotel called Piccolo Viccolo to grab a matcha latte. The place was tucked away in a tiny alley — I even doubted Google Maps for a moment. It felt like it was only accessible by bike, but I chose to walk.
The cafe had an industrial-style design, with an art shop and hostel in the same area. The ambience was calm, although you could still hear the loud voices from the school right behind the cafe. I ordered a hot matcha latte, perfect for Bangkok’s surprisingly chilly December weather. It was so cold I even had to turn off the air conditioner at night I wore sweaters and took long walks without breaking a sweat at all. A rare case for me since I usually get sweaty so easily.
After checkout, I went to Ari, an area well known for its cafes and restaurants, for lunch. I decided to revisit Ong Tong Khao Soi, my favorite spot from a previous Bangkok trip. Khao Soi reminded me of Opor, and I loved everything about it. The dish came with pickles that balanced the flavors and kept me from feeling queasy. My rating? Definitely 10/10.
To kill time before boarding, I went to Nana Coffee Roastery, just a 3-minute walk from Ong Tong Khao Soi. The place was nice, but it was packed with tourists.
It was also pricey :’) Since I had only a little cash left, I could only get (yes, again) a matcha latte. I would’ve ordered food with my credit card, but the minimum spend was too high. So I used Grab self-pickup to order a tiramisu instead. ^^
The matcha here was the best I had during the entire trip. The tiramisu was just okay. I’d give the food 8/10, while the ambience was nice but way too crowded for me, so 7.5/10.
I couldn’t stand the crowd any longer, so I headed to the airport three hours before boarding time.
