Sincere Moments💋. Today I want to write about someone who… | by Nurul Maulida | Aug, 2025

Today I want to write about someone who was once present in my life and gave me a sense of comfort.
Not because he was perfect, not because our story was amazing, but because everything felt ordinary yet sincere.
We started getting close during college. At that time, we often worked on assignments together. Not at home, not in the library, but almost always at a café. It was always the same place, small, quiet, and had enough power outlets. Sometimes we sat there for hours with our laptops open, serious faces on, but still managed to joke around in between.
“Your cappuccino is already cold, but this assignment is still hot,” he said once, typing without even looking at me.
I chuckled. “Drinking coffee is just an excuse to hide the stress.”
“That’s why I ordered two,” he replied with a grin.
And funny little conversations like that are what I remember most to this day.
We were not the kind of couple who said romantic things every five minutes. But I could tell from his small gestures that he cared. He knew I got anxious when deadlines were close, so he often helped me first. He knew I got hungry easily, so he would hand me snacks even while we were both focused.
What I appreciated most was that he never felt the need to show off. There were never any photos of us on social media. No “couple goals” stories, no sweet words shared with others. But he was always there, driving me to campus without complaining, waiting for me after class, and then sitting at the café again to continue our work.
He was not someone who talked much either. But when I shared little things that were bothering me, he listened. Sometimes he did not give advice, just held his coffee cup and nodded gently. But that was enough. It felt like having a place to come home to, even though we rarely talked about the future.
One special thing about our journey was that we graduated with our bachelor’s degrees in the same year. It was not planned. Just a happy coincidence. That day, we sat next to each other at the graduation ceremony, glanced at one another, and laughed quietly.
“Hey, we ended up here together,” I said.
“Yeah, and we didn’t even plan it.”
“Once again, no planning, but we still arrived at the same place.”
And somehow, that moment felt so warm.
Strangely, the same thing happened during our master’s degree. We both continued our studies, and once again, we graduated on the same day. No plan, no shared goals. We simply walked our own paths, but somehow reached the same destination.
I do not want to exaggerate who he was or what he did for me. But I know that during that time, he quietly helped me grow. He was present, not through words, but through actions that meant something.
Our relationship was never filled with promises, but it was always full of presence. It was not always smooth. Sometimes we had misunderstandings, sometimes we needed space. But when we needed someone to lean on, we knew where to turn.
Now, when I look back, I have no regrets about going through that part of life with him. Because in life, we are not always given perfect stories. Sometimes, sincere ones are more than enough. With him, I once felt and still feel that rare kind of sincerity. The kind that does not need grand gestures or flawless moments to be meaningful. It is in our late-night talks across the distance, the laughter shared through a screen, and the small acts of care that travel across miles, that I am reminded how love can be both gentle and strong. Even though we are apart for now, we continue walking toward the same future, step by step, with the same hope in our hearts.
