Shunichi Kaji is a 15 year old boy with black messy hair and bangs. He usually wears a white button-up T-shirt along with baggy black sweatpants, red soccer shoes and sky blue headphones. He wears an off-white mask with some red patterns, beneath his mask he has pale skin, red eyes, fangs and a mole beneath his lip on the right side of his face.

Shunichi has always had a huge fascination with technology, often being bullied at school for his brains in tech-class. Shunichi grew up with very little friends and spends most of his free time playing video games in his room. Shunichi often plays with one online friend who goes by “Kuchiku-kan” with Jiro being his real name. Jiro a famous top rank player in “Asa no fukushū”, who only bothered to befriend Shunichi. He is often friendly and collected, he helps Shunichi on game missions and listens to his day, giving advice. Jiro is, in reality 18 years old but lied about his age stating he is 15, Jiro in reality bumps into Shunichi while dropping his brother, Tommie, off at his new school. Shunichi suspects nothing though Jiro pretends to play it down, figuring out Shunichi has Neo’s voice. Shunichi soon bumps into Jiro and Tommie again, Tommie asking Jiro if he can play on his Yakitori Computer, though Jiro gets nervous and walks away with Tommie, leaving Shunichi suspecting that Jiro is Kuchiku-kan.

Tommie later befriends Shunichi, who was getting picked on by Reiku Kenju, by punching him in the face and running off with Shunichi in an upstairs room and locking it, while Reiku banged on the door almost busting it down, Tommie and Shunichi jump to the other window and hide for the rest of the day, talking about video games.

Soon, Tommie mentions his brother, Jiro who plays “Asa no fukushū” the same game Shunichi plays. He soon realises Tommie’s brother is jiro. Shunichi doesn’t say anything but instead walks with Tommie who then asks Shunichi to visit, Shunichi with the idea to find out if Jiro is Kuchiku-kan, after all, his whole school talked about the game and Kuchiku-kan and his rank.

Jiro, fears his secret will be found out by Shunichi, if that happens it would ruin his anonymity and utterly make him known to everybody, which is the last thing he wants. Once Shunichi makes it to their house he asks if they could play video games, shortly after, Jiro walks into the room as Shunichi sees his own username in the friends bar, Shunichi shrugs it off and keeps it a secret as Jiro stares in horror until the two finish playing, Jiro then walks up to Shunichi and asks “you are Shunichi.. right? Here..” Jiro then handed Shunichi an odd ring with wires sticking out. “Use it when you get home and play on your computer..” Shunichi then took the ring in confusion and left to go home, he put the ring on and headed home. That night, Shunichi logs on and joins Jiro, questioning “so you are kuchiku-kan and.. what’s this ring..?” As Jiro replies “I need myself to be anonymous, please don’t tell anyone! And the ring.. you’ll find out just keep playing” After this, Shunichi agrees not to tell anybody that Jiro is Kuchiku-kan, and continues to go to school with Tommie. As Jiro and Shunichi play, the most higher their ranks go which grabs the attention of Shunichi’s whole school, at this point even Reiku was talking about him. People made lots of videos claiming to be either Kuchika-kan and Neo but nobody really believed them.

One day, Shunichi was exploring some other video games and came across a old called, run down game titled “Genjitsu sekai” in this game, he saw beautiful graphics and for some reason tried to reach out with his hand to the screen, his hand went though the screen and became digital, he then, like a hologram, entered the game. Shunichi in pure shock and joy that his dream of entering a video game has come true, walks around the white castles and rivers. He came across a boy named Wim. Shunichi asks “who are you? A player? I didn’t notice anybody In the server..” which Wim replies “I am a built-in character, therefore I’m not a Human.. welcome to genjitsu sekai! It’s been so long since I’ve seen someone here”

Wim later Walks around with Shunichi explaining that this world is the only world he’s ever known, knowing only a little bit of the outside world, shunichi drags him though his computer into his room as Wim’s face lights up in amazement, he was full of exploration and wanted to look around immediately, touching all of Shunichi’s belongings and asking questions. Shunichi said that even though the game Wim was in wasn’t popular, it would be dangerous to let people find out who he was, so Wim changed name temporarily to “Marcel”.

Wim wanted to go to a game that’s full of life and more adventure, a game called “Kasei no shiro”, Shunichi, being a skilled hacker/programmer takes on this challenge and assures Wim to be patient and go to school with him and blend into his grade, Shunichi says it so Wim can get a look at the real world but in reality Shunichi just needs to keep an eye on him. They go to school and Wim hears everybody talking about Neo, Wim says “aren’t you neo..?! You never told me you were famous”, Shunichi then froze up and nervously said “w-what?! Video games..? No..”, Reiku overhears Shunichi and says “this shrimp couldn’t play video games if it could safe his life!”, Wim says “I’m sure he could rank up higher then you ever could, he’s really good at video games”, Reiku responds with a angry expression as his friends laugh quietly, Reiku is about to throw a punch and win gets in front of Shunichi, preparing to attack back but Shunichi pushes Wim out of the way, after Shunichi is hit badly he was hit to the ground, Wim ended up punching Reiku but Shunichi gestured Wim to stop, Reiku laughs it off and nervously walks away, Wim asks why Shunichi took the hit and why he told him to stop which Shunichi replies “you can’t be getting too much attention or people will put 2 and 2 together, you know..”. The rest of the day the two try to lay low and complete work, Wim got every single answer correct because he has a wide intelligence of different subjects programmed into him, he gestured shunichi, who struggles with any class besides tech, to copy his answers, but Shunichi declined. After school Tommie finds Shunichi after searching for him all over school “Shunichi.. where have you been?! I was trying to find you all day to ask for you to come over!” Shunichi declines kindly but Tommie, desperately, asks again, this time Wim answered “can I come too?” Tommie says yes hesitantly, and Shunichi has no choice but to go along, when they make it to Tommie’s house, Jiro notices Wim and his eyes go wide, and asks Shunichi to talk with him, while Tommie and Wim talked, Shunichi and Jiro went to his room, Jiro asking “did you do it..?! Did you enter the game..?” Shunichi by shock gasped and answered yes, Jiro had figured out how to enter though different video games by building cyber gear, and in this case.. the ring. Jiro also recognised Wim from the same game and asked Shunichi “is that.. Wim from genjitsu sekai..??!” Which Shunichi replies with yes, and to keep it quiet to everybody else, and that his fake name is Marcel to avoid any suspicions. “So.. the ring works! It’s actually worked..!” Jiro replies. “You knew this would happen..? How did you get that ring to work..” Shunichi questioned. “Lots of work.. I thought it wouldn’t work but I suppose it does” Jiro said.

The two later then agree to talk tomorrow after school and on their game tonight.
