My Childhood and Mental Trauma. Introduction | by Saikrishna | Oct, 2025

Introduction
Growing up can be challenging, but for some, childhood carries deep wounds that shape their entire lives. My story is one of pain, resilience, and healing — a journey from trauma to self-discovery. Through sharing my experiences, I hope to inspire others to understand the importance of mindful parenting and emotional well-being.
The Difficult Early Years
My childhood was far from ordinary. Coming from a small agricultural village, I spent much of my early life in a hostel, enduring physical punishment to achieve good grades. My parents believed such harsh treatment was necessary and encouraged by teachers. This constant criticism and comparison to others left me feeling demotivated and emotionally scarred.
The Emotional Struggle
If anyone outside criticized me, my parents dismissed it as a joke. But any reaction from me was met with strict scolding and demands for better manners. They often avoided direct communication, instead manipulating others to convey their messages. This left me confused and emotionally isolated.
Adulthood and Impact
At 25, after getting married, I sought my father’s support for starting a business but was met with silence. The trauma from my childhood led to severe anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. Everyday activities like driving or being in sunlight triggered symptoms. Thanks to treatment and self-care, I am now on a path toward healing.
Finding Strength and Setting Boundaries
Reading books such as Educating the Educator by J. Krishnamurthy and exploring parenting articles helped me understand the importance of emotional boundaries. Setting these boundaries with my parents brought much-needed peace and growth.
Reflection: The Role of Mindful Parenting
Parents and children share a deep bond of love, but parents carry the responsibility to nurture their children thoughtfully. Raising children with a balance of intuition and reasoning supports their emotional health and overall development, preparing them for a confident future.
Conclusion
My journey through trauma has taught me that healing is possible and that mindful parenting can make all the difference. I hope my story encourages reflection on how we raise the next generation — with kindness, awareness, and balance.
