From Financial Struggles to Finding Purpose: My B.Tech Journey So Far | by Gopal Maddheshiya | Aug, 2025

Starting my second year on July 23, 2025, something shifted. Instead of letting the overwhelm consume me, I took a deep breath and made a decision.
I was going to master this.
I dove into Java, Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), web design and development, and software engineering. This time, I approached learning differently — with patience, persistence, and a clear goal in mind: internships and placements.
Currently, I’m still on this journey, working hard every day, building my skills one concept at a time.
Every single day, I think about how my father arranged the money for my education. I can’t even begin to imagine the sacrifices he made, the sleepless nights, the financial pressure he took on — all for my dreams.
This thought doesn’t burden me; it fuels me.
I’ve made a promise to myself and to my father: I will make him proud through my work. Every line of code I write, every concept I master, every project I complete — it’s all building toward that moment when I can look him in the eyes and say, “Your belief in me was worth it.”
If you’re struggling academically, if you feel like you’re not smart enough, if financial constraints are holding you back — remember my story.
- Grades don’t define your potential
- It’s okay to start slow and build momentum
- Family support is invaluable, but self-belief is essential
- Every expert was once a beginner who didn’t give up
Your journey might not look like everyone else’s, and that’s perfectly fine. What matters is that you keep moving forward.
I’m currently in my second year, learning and growing every day. If my story resonates with you or if you’re on a similar journey, I’d love to connect and share experiences. Feel free to reach out in the comments below.
