How To Make Bath Bombs For Kids
Ingredients
*makes 4–6 small bath bombs
- 1 cup baking soda
- ½ cup citric acid (found in canning section or online)
- ½ cup cornstarch (gentle on skin)
- ½ cup Epsom salts or finely ground oatmeal (soothing)
- 3 tbsp melted coconut oil or sweet almond oil (moisturizing)
- 2–3 tbsp water (in a spray bottle, so you can add slowly)
- 1–2 tsp natural coloring (optional) → beet powder, turmeric, spirulina
- Optional light scent: 3–5 drops of very mild 100% essential oil like lavender or chamomile (or skip for sensitive skin).
- Silicone molds or bath bomb molds
Instructions
Step 1
Mix dry ingredients – In a large bowl, whisk together baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, and Epsom salts (or oatmeal).
Step 2
Add oils – Slowly add in melted coconut/almond oil and mix well.
Step 3
Add color/scents – Stir in natural powder colorants and 100% essential oil (optional).
Step 4
Spritz with water – Lightly mist the mix with water while stirring. Add just enough so the mixture clumps together when squeezed—not too wet (or it will start fizzing early).
Step 5
Press into molds – Pack the mixture firmly into molds. Silicone molds work well for kids (stars, hearts, animals).
Step 6
Dry – Let sit 24 hours until hard. Remove carefully from molds and store in an airtight container.
