Me at 2 years old.

Hi, I’m Leandro — but most people just call me Andro.
For most of my life, I’ve been the type to stay in the background: observing, listening, letting others take the spotlight. But lately, something in me has shifted. I feel the pull to step forward, to put words to the thoughts and lessons I usually keep to myself.

That’s why I’m here on Medium. I want this space to be more than just a collection of posts — I want it to be a kind of workshop, a place where I can grow, experiment with ideas, and share the small but meaningful things I’m learning every day.

Life at 20

Not long ago, I turned 20 years old — born on August 22, 2005. That number feels special. Ever since I was little, I couldn’t wait to reach 20. Not only because it seemed more “grown-up,” but also because people always said your 20s are the real beginning of life. They say this is the age where you try things, take risks, and shape the direction of your future.

But to be honest, when I finally arrived at this point, I felt fear instead of excitement. Fear that life isn’t always as beautiful as I once imagined it to be in my teenage years. Fear of having to choose a direction when the map ahead is still blurry.

I believe fear isn’t a sign of weakness — it’s part of the process.

With small and consistent steps, I trust that a clearer path will slowly take shape. And writing, perhaps, will be one of my compasses to navigate this new journey in my 20s.

I Am an Introvert

I was born and raised in Bali, Indonesia. Bali is often known as a place where people from all over the world gather, full of life and interaction. But I’ve always been a little different — I’m an introvert.

Many people misunderstand introverts as anti-social. But to me, being introverted simply means having a different way of enjoying the world. I prefer straight-to-the-point conversations over small talk, I feel more comfortable observing than standing out, and often I choose solitude over crowds.

That said, I admit being an introvert has its own challenges. Speaking in public, starting conversations with new people, or being in a loud social setting sometimes feels like running into an invisible wall separating me from the outside world.

The older I get, the more I realize I can’t always give in to that comfort zone. There are moments when I need to step out of my “cave,” try things that don’t feel natural, and train myself to say: “Alright, let’s give it a try.”

Writing: My Way of Building Confidence

Why writing?

Of course, there are many other options. I could start a YouTube channel and practice talking in front of a camera, or make short videos on TikTok to share my thoughts. But knowing myself, I think writing is the best starting point.

Through writing, I can organize my thoughts more clearly. Every piece I publish will be a small step outside my comfort zone — a way of “speaking” through words before I practice speaking directly to people.

I know confidence doesn’t grow overnight. But through writing, I believe I can build it slowly, one piece at a time.

Why Medium and What I’ll Write

So, why Medium?

I’ve known about Medium for quite some time, even for years. What I find fascinating is that Medium isn’t just the “YouTube of articles.” It’s also a home for a community of writers and readers who support each other. That’s what drew me in.

And what will I write? Honestly, I’m still exploring. I want to try many things, but for now I’m leaning toward writing about self-improvement — sharing the little lessons I pick up in daily life.

For me, Medium will be both a training ground and a sharing space. A place where I can grow through writing, and maybe share something useful with others along the way.

Last Statement

So that’s a little about me: a 20-year-old from Indonesia, an introvert learning to step outside his comfort zone, trying to upgrade himself through writing. This article is just the beginning. I believe there are many more things I can write, stories I can share, and lessons I can learn from people here.

If you’re interested, let’s walk this journey together on Medium. I’ll write as honestly as I can, as best as I can, and I hope each piece I publish can bring something — even if it’s just a small spark — for you who are reading.

I’m also open to feedback. If you’d like to correct, advise, or simply share your thoughts, I’d deeply appreciate it. Because I know this journey is not one I can walk alone.

At the end of the day, writing isn’t just about words — it’s about courage.

And this is my small act of courage, to finally speak to the world.
